About Dr Natasha Thandrayen

Having worked as an NHS Doctor for 15 years, Dr Natasha Thandrayen is a highly skilled General Practitioner, with a broad range of knowledge and experience in all specialties.

Her aim is for patients to feel that they have had a holistic and complete overview of their healthcare, and to really feel listened to.

She qualified from Royal Free & University College London Medical School, achieving a Merit in Paediatrics, and a prize in Paediatrics / Public Health for a presentation on diarrhoea in African children.

Whilst at Medical School, she was awarded a bursary to conduct research during her Medical Elective in Mauritius. This was to ascertain whether Mauritius was set up nationally to deal with polio and whether they had implemented the protective measures set up by the WHO.

After qualifying as a Doctor, she did additional hospital training in Microbiology, Emergency Medicine, ENT, Gastroentrology, Renal Medicine, Care of the Elderly, Urology, and Paediatrics, working in London and the surrounding areas.

Her General Practice training was undertaken in Kingston Upon Thames, Richmond, and then Newcastle. This included Public health work at the Kingston Primary Care Trust, where she carried out a Health Care Needs Assessment of homeless people in the borough of Kingston. Her findings were presented nationally at the UK Public Health Association Annual forum, and also at a National RCGP conference.

She completed the DFSRH (Diploma of the Faculty of Sexual and Reproductive Health) in 2010 which encompasses Contraception and Sexual Health.

In 2014 she was awarded Membership of the Royal College of General Practitioners, and has since undergone additional training in the field of Psychosexual Medicine, which encompasses Sexual Dysfunction.

Recently she has undertaken specialist training in Insomnia and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy for Insomnia (CBTi) at Oxford University. She is also a member of the British Sleep Society.

Prior to formal medical training, Dr Thandrayen completed a B.Sc (hons) in Biochemistry - also at University College London, and conducted research into CJD (Creutzfeldt-Jakob Disease), otherwise known as 'Mad Cow Disease'. The outcome of this work has been published in several medical research papers.
